Mera Peak Expedition

Mera Peak is the highest of the permitted "Trekking Peaks in Nepal. The trek begins by flying into the heart of the Himalayas in the village of Lukla. From there, you will cross a high pass in an isolated valley and gradually acclimate , as you must move to the base camp and establish a camp high on the glacier o r you can attempt the summit. The first ascent was May 20, 1953 by Col. Jimmy Roberts and Sen Tenzing. From the summit of Mera one can see 5 of the 6 highest mountains in the world: Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu and Cho Oyo. The usual route from the north involves little more than walking at high altitude glaciers. Ease reaching this elevation may still his greatest danger, but the weather and snow conditions are, of course, necessary for the safety and success. The west and south are oriented in the supply of hard edge technical routes. This is a great trek and climb an ancient land o u still graze yaks Sherpa, cook on yak dung fires and live a life very simple.
